The UC San Diego School of Medicine, Division of Nephrology-Hypertension presents the 40th Annual Advanced Nephrology: Nephrology for the Consultant conference to be held virtually on January 21-23, 2021.

This course has been designed with the practicing nephrologist in mind, providing clinically relevant, up-to-date practice and management guidelines on a range of nephrology topics that should prove valuable in the day to day practices of nephrology.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes nephrologists, internists, fellows, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other allied health professionals who encounter conditions relevant to nephrology in the clinical setting.

Program Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the current understanding of how COVID-19 affects kidney function, and appropriately manage kidney disease in the era of COVID-19 based on current evidence
  • Distinguish C3 glomerulopathy from other glomerular diseases, and describe appropriate management options
  • Discuss novel therapies for lupus nephritis
  • Effectively describe kidney biopsy findings
  • Describe the pathophysiology of cardiorenal syndrome
  • Appropriately recognize and manage causes of diuretic resistance
  • Discuss the available evidence on managing hepatorenal syndrome
  • Recognize risk factors and discuss effective management strategies for commonly encountered kidney stones
  • Identify new and high-impact findings presented in this year's nephrology literature
